Henk Kuijpers’ long-running Dutch series Franka follows the globe-trotting adventures of its resourceful young heroine and her loyal dog Gruff. Published by Carlsen from 1992 to 2006, the ten-issue run is defined by Kuijpers’ clean, elegant linework and lighthearted, mystery-driven plots. While Kuijpers handled the art and most of the writing, Niels Søndergaard contributed to later scripts, keeping the series a beloved staple of European adventure comics.
