Fort Navajo

In 1972, French creators Jean-Michel Charlier and Jean Giraud launched Fort Navajo with Romanforlaget, a foundational Western series set in the American frontier. Though only a single issue was published, it established the gritty, historically grounded storytelling that would define the larger Blueberry universe. Charlier's taut scripts and Giraud's expressive, detailed art made this a landmark in European comics, influencing how the genre was depicted for decades to come.
