About the series
In 1940, Fawcett Publications released Flash Comics—a two-issue ashcan edition that served as a prototype for the character who would soon become Captain Marvel. Written by Bill Parker and drawn by C. C. Beck, this brief run established the visual and narrative template for one of the Golden Age’s most popular superheroes. Though short-lived, it marks the earliest published work of the creative team that would define the Marvel Family’s classic adventures.
