Flaming Carrot Comics

Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot Comics launched in 1985 through Aardvark-Vanaheim and Renegade Press, a single-issue oddity that introduced the world to its absurdist, fish-out-of-water hero. Written and drawn entirely by Burden, the series established the surreal, deadpan humor that would later define the creator's entire oeuvre. Though brief, this debut remains a foundational artifact of independent comics, a cult touchstone that proved a strange, self-published idea could find an audience.
