Flaming Carrot Comics

From 1985 to 1987, Bob Burden’s Flaming Carrot Comics brought a delightfully oddball superhero to Renegade Press, blending deadpan absurdity with indie comic energy. Burden wrote the entire 12-issue run and handled art alongside Rod Whigham and Becky Makla, giving the series a scrappy, collaborative feel. A cult touchstone of the mid-80s alternative scene, it’s remembered for its surreal humor and the unforgettable image of a man in a giant flaming carrot mask fighting crime.
