Fipps, der Affe

First published in 1879 by Bassermann, Fipps, der Affe is a German comic series centered on a mischievous monkey. Though only a single issue has been released to date, it stands as a remarkably early example of the comic medium, predating many of the better-known newspaper strips that would define the form. Its historical significance lies in its pioneering place within the development of sequential art in Germany.
