Film Picture Stories

A series of six oversized, tabloid-format comics from Hand Made Books Press, Film Picture Stories (2016–present) reimagines classic cinema as sequential art. Each issue adapts a different silent or early sound film, with creator Ben Marra writing and drawing every installment in a bold, woodcut-inspired style. The series stands out for its meticulous period research and its celebration of the visual language of pre-Code Hollywood, offering a unique, tactile reading experience.
