Warren Ellis and Ben Templesmith teamed up for this gritty, atmospheric Image Comics series, which launched in 2007. The premise follows Detective Richard Fell, a big-city cop exiled to a nightmarish, isolated city called Snowtown, where the rules of logic and reality seem to bend. Templesmith's signature, moody watercolor-and-digital art perfectly complements Ellis's terse, noir-inflected storytelling, creating a uniquely unsettling crime comic. Though only a single issue was published, Fell remains a cult favorite for its potent, self-contained vision of urban dread.
