Feeding Ground
In Feeding Ground (2010–2011, Archaia Studios Press), a six-issue miniseries, writer Chris Mangun, Swifty Lang, and artist Michael Lapinski craft a tense, grounded horror story set along the treacherous U.S.-Mexico border. The series follows a young boy's harrowing journey as he crosses the desert, only to discover that the real predators are not the border patrol but something far more ancient and monstrous lurking in the shadows. Lapinski's stark, expressive artwork brings a gritty realism to this slow-burn thriller, which uses its supernatural premise to explore themes of migration, survival, and human desperation. A quietly unsettling work from the early 2010s, it remains a distinctive example of how genre comics can tackle social issues without losing their chilling edge.
