Fathom

From 1987 to 1988, Comico published the three-issue miniseries Fathom, a fantasy adventure written by Lawrence Schick with art by Jill Thompson. The story follows an orphaned young woman who discovers a mysterious connection to an undersea world, setting the stage for a conflict between surface dwellers and a hidden aquatic civilization. Though brief, the series is notable for Thompson's early, detailed artwork and for establishing a mythic, underwater realm that would later be revisited by other creators.
