Fat Momma

Over four issues from 2006 to 2008, Esteem Comics published Fat Momma, a short-lived series that brought a warm, irreverent voice to the indie-comics scene. Writers Nell Wilson, Tony Miello, and Matthew Atherton, with art by Miello and Jason Ball, crafted a character-driven comedy centered on an unapologetically plus-sized matriarch navigating family and small-town life. Its brief run stands out for its bold, body-positive humor and DIY spirit, a snapshot of mid-2000s alternative comics that dared to center a rarely seen protagonist.
