Escaravelho Azul
Palirex · 1969–1970 · 92 issues
About the series
From 1969 to 1970, the Brazilian publisher Palirex brought the Escaravelho Azul (Blue Beetle) to a new audience across 92 issues, reprinting and repackaging American Charlton Comics adventures. The series is most defined by the work of writer Joe Gill, who scripted the bulk of the stories, and a trio of artists—Pat Boyette, Steve Ditko, and Charles Nicholas—whose distinctive styles gave the hero a varied visual life. As a key example of the international licensing boom of the era, this run preserved and popularized the Silver Age Blue Beetle for Portuguese-speaking readers, making it a notable artifact of global comics distribution.
