About the series
David B.'s Epileptic is an intimate, formally inventive graphic memoir from French publisher L'Association, begun in 2002 and ongoing. The series centers on the artist's childhood and adolescence, shaped by his older brother's severe epilepsy and the family's search for a cure. Through its dreamlike, densely crosshatched art and unflinching narrative, the book redefined how comics could address illness, memory, and the surreal terrain of personal history. It remains a landmark of autobiographical cartooning and a touchstone for the European alternative-comics movement.
