About the series
Over 18 issues from 1986 to 1987, the German publisher Epix launched Elixir, a short-lived but vibrant anthology series that brought together a trans-European mix of humor and avant-garde comics. The series is most associated with the eclectic talents of Brösel, Gotlib, and Frank Margerin as writers, while artists like Volker Reiche, Gotlib, and Mikael Grahn defined its irreverent visual tone. As a showcase for both established and rising cartoonists, Elixir captured the playful, boundary-pushing spirit of mid-80s European comic magazines.
