ElfQuest

From 1981 to 1984, the Donning Company published ElfQuest, a landmark four-issue fantasy series created and primarily written by Richard and Wendy Pini, with Wendy Pini handling the art. This self-contained saga introduced a world of elfin tribes, exploring themes of community, survival, and connection to nature through lush, detailed artwork and emotionally resonant storytelling. A pioneering work in independent comics, ElfQuest grew out of the Pinis' earlier black-and-white magazine and helped define the fantasy genre in the medium, earning a devoted readership that has kept its world alive for decades.
