El Sargento Virus, a long-running Spanish comic series from Editorial Valenciana that began in 1962, follows the absurd adventures of a bumbling, mustachioed sergeant in a comically inept army unit. Over 24 issues, the strip became a beloved fixture of Spanish humor comics, largely due to the distinctive, cartoonish art and slapstick gags of its primary creator, José Sanchis. Its enduring popularity helped define the lighthearted, gag-a-page style of the publisher's output during the mid-20th century.
