El Capitan Marvel

From 1952 to 1954, Editorial Novaro published 16 issues of El Capitan Marvel, a Spanish-language comic that brought the original Captain Marvel adventures to Mexican and Latin American audiences. Most frequently illustrated by the classic team of C. C. Beck and Kurt Schaffenberger, the series translated and reprinted the whimsical, high-energy tales of the World's Mightiest Mortal during the twilight of the character's original Fawcett era. It stands as a key piece of international comics history, preserving Beck's iconic art and the Shazam mythology for a new readership just before the character's legal battles forced his disappearance from newsstands.
