About the series

From 1968 to 1970, Brazilian publisher Gráfica Editora Penteado Ltda. (GEP) brought American superhero energy to local newsstands with Edições GEP, a 23-issue series that translated and adapted classic Marvel stories. Anchored by the writing of Stan Lee and the dynamic pencils of Jack Kirby, the series introduced Portuguese readers to the original X-Men—Bobby Drake, Scott Summers, and Hank McCoy—alongside local talent like writer Gedeone Malagola and artists Jay Gavin and Paulo Hamasaki. A key bridge between U.S. comics and Brazilian fandom, it helped establish the X-Men's presence in South America during the late Silver Age.
