Durango

A brief but striking Western series from Norwegian publisher Serieforlaget, Durango ran for four issues in the late '80s and early '90s. Written primarily by Vibeke Mortensen and illustrated by Yves Swolfs—who also contributed to the writing—the comic follows the gritty, lone-gunman adventures of its titular character across a harsh and unforgiving frontier. Swolfs' detailed, moody artwork gives the series a cinematic feel, marking it as a notable European import that brought a darker, more adult sensibility to the Western genre for Scandinavian readers.
