Don Winslow

Don Winslow, a newspaper comic strip character, made a brief jump to comic books in 1940 with a two-issue series from publishers Ayers & James. The strip's creator, artist and writer Frank V. Martinek, brought the naval intelligence hero's globe-trotting adventures to the four-color format, offering a snapshot of wartime serialized storytelling. Though short-lived, the series remains a curious footnote for fans of classic adventure strips and early comic book tie-ins.
