Die Gringos

From 1998 onward, Kult Editionen has collected the gritty, revisionist Western saga Die Gringos—originally written by Jean-Michel Charlier and illustrated by Víctor de la Fuente. Spanning six issues, the series follows a group of American mercenaries in 1860s Mexico, blending historical tension with the raw, expressive art style de la Fuente brought to the genre. Though Charlier passed away before its completion, the series stands as a late-career highlight for both creators, offering a darker, more morally complex take on the Western than their earlier adventures.
