Destroy!!

In 1987, Scott McCloud—before his landmark Understanding Comics—launched this single-issue Eclipse Comics one-shot, a gleefully absurd superhero satire that follows a hero whose only power is to destroy anything. McCloud wrote and drew the entire issue, packing it with his signature dynamic, cartoonish art and meta-commentary on the genre's conventions. Though it stands alone, Destroy!! remains a cult curiosity for fans of McCloud's early, unbridled creativity and a playful deconstruction of the very idea of a "powerful" protagonist.
