About the series
In the late 1990s, Image Comics published Desperadoes, a five-issue Western series written by Jeff Mariotte with striking painted art by John Cassaday. The story follows a band of outlaws and lawmen caught in a violent, supernatural-tinged frontier, blending gritty genre tropes with a dark, mythic atmosphere. Though brief, the series is remembered for Cassaday's lush, cinematic visuals and its moody, revisionist take on the Old West.
