Der Richter und sein Henker

In 1988, Zytglogge Verlag published a single-issue comic adaptation of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s classic crime novel Der Richter und sein Henker, with the author himself credited among the writers alongside Andreas Mattmann and Frank Neff. Artists Andrea Kurmann, Barbara Stäger, and Bernard Schlup brought the Swiss literary thriller’s moody, philosophical detective story to sequential art. Though a standalone entry, it stands as a notable bridge between Dürrenmatt’s celebrated text and the European comics tradition.
