About the series
Set in the American Civil War, this long-running Belgian comedic western series follows the misadventures of two bumbling Union soldiers, Sergeant Chesterfield and Corporal Blutch. Launched at Dupuis in the late 1960s by Raoul Cauvin and Louis Salvérius, the series found its definitive visual voice under artist Willy Lambil, who has illustrated the vast majority of its 30-plus albums. A cornerstone of Franco-Belgian comics, De Blauwbloezen blends slapstick humor with surprisingly accurate historical detail, earning its status as a beloved classic that continues to be published today.
