Crying Freeman

Kazuo Koike and Ryoichi Ikegami’s classic crime saga gets a new English-language adaptation from Dark Horse, running five issues from 2006 to 2007. Writer Kumar Sivasubramanian joins Koike to translate and adapt the story of a Chinese assassin brainwashed into becoming the perfect killer, known as the Crying Freeman for the tears he sheds after each hit. With Ikegami’s gritty, detailed art bringing the underworld to life, this series reintroduces a seminal work of mature manga to a Western audience.
