About the series
In the late 1990s, DC Comics published Crimson, a 17-issue series that blended horror, dark fantasy, and superhero tropes. Most closely associated with writer/artist Humberto Ramos, who co-wrote the series alongside Brian Augustyn and Francisco Haghenbeck, the book followed a young man thrust into a world of vampires and supernatural intrigue. Ramos's distinctive, energetic art style gave the series a vivid, almost cartoonish edge that stood out from darker horror comics of the era. Crimson remains a cult favorite for its unique visual flair and its attempt to inject youthful energy into the vampire genre at DC.
