J. R. Williams (also credited as Jim Williams) created this seven-issue Fantagraphics series from 1993 to 1995, a raw, blackly comic look at the lives of disaffected young adults in a small town. The book’s scabrous humor and unvarnished artwork captured the grungy, slacker-era ennui of the early '90s alternative comics scene. Crap stands as a cult artifact of its time, a blunt and memorable slice-of-life comic from a singular, unsentimental voice.
