About the series
From 1985 to 2000, Globe Communications published Cracked Collectors' Edition, a 64-issue humor comic that served as a larger-format, more polished offshoot of the long-running Cracked magazine. Anchored by the frequent writing of Jeff Wong and the distinctive art of John Severin, Walter Brogan, and Frank Cummings, the series specialized in movie and pop-culture parodies, often lampooning blockbusters and celebrities of the era. While it never reached the cultural heights of its rival Mad, this series carved out its own niche as a reliable source of cheeky, pre-Internet satire for newsstand readers. Its oversized pages and full-color covers made it a visually punchy time capsule of 80s and 90s comedy.
