Cowboy Romances

Marvel’s Cowboy Romances (1949–1950) was a short-lived three-issue series that blended the publisher’s early Western and romance genres, a common pairing in post-war comics. The art was handled by a rotating team of seasoned hands including Mike Sekowsky, Pete Tumlinson, and Syd Shores, each bringing a polished, illustrative style to tales of frontier love and adventure. Though brief, the series captures a snapshot of Marvel’s pre-superhero era, when the company—then known as Atlas—experimented with genre hybrids to meet shifting reader tastes.
