About the series
Though it never produced a single issue, Comics Bruguera (1977–1982) was the ambitious, short-lived magazine imprint from Spain’s legendary Editorial Bruguera, designed to showcase European and American comic strips to a new generation. Associated with the company’s post-Franco push into mature, adult-oriented material, the series was intended to feature work from both Spanish and international talents. Its significance lies in representing a bold but ultimately unrealized attempt by Bruguera to reinvent its brand and compete in the changing Spanish comics market of the late 1970s.
