Comicolour

Gerald G. Swan’s Comicolour was a brief, three-issue British comic from 1953–1954, notable for its bold, full-color newsprint pages during an era when many UK comics were still printed in monochrome. Featuring a mix of adventure, humor, and fantasy strips, it showcased the work of Swan’s stable of regular artists, including Ron Embleton and Eric Bradbury, in an early attempt to bring a more vibrant, modern look to the post-war British newsstand. Though short-lived, Comicolour stands as a colorful footnote in the transition of British comics toward brighter, more visually ambitious formats.
