A long-running Italian silver age series, Collana Argento ran for 116 issues from 1971 to 1982 under the Club Nostalgia imprint, reprinting classic American newspaper comic strips in a deluxe, album-sized format. It is most associated with the editorial vision of publisher and comics historian Franco Fossati, who curated a wide-ranging library of adventure, fantasy, and humor strips for an adult audience. The series mattered as a foundational archival project, preserving and presenting seminal works—from Flash Gordon to The Phantom—to Italian readers in high-quality, uncut editions for the first time.
