Classics Illustrated

A modern Greek revival of the long-running educational series, Classics Illustrated (2018–2022) from Εκδόσεις Οξύ brought literary masterpieces to a new generation through comics. Though the series produced no issues, it aimed to adapt classic novels and plays into accessible graphic narratives, continuing the tradition of making canonical texts visually engaging. The project was associated with Greek creators and publishers committed to preserving the educational spirit of the original Classics Illustrated line, which began in the 1940s. Its significance lies in bridging classic literature and sequential art for contemporary readers, even in a limited or unrealized form.
