Classicomics

From 1974 to 1978, German publisher Schwager & Steinlein released Classicomics, a 13-issue comic series that adapted literary classics into sequential art. The series primarily drew on the adventure tales of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson, with scripts often handled by Jacques Bastian. Visually, it was defined by the detailed European style of artists like Ramón de la Fuente, Raphaël Carlo Marcello, and Raymond Poïvet. Classicomics stands as a distinctive, mid-70s European effort to bring timeless stories to a new generation through the comic medium.
