Cavewoman: Rain

In the prehistoric jungles of Caliber Press's Cavewoman: Rain (1996–1997), artist and co-writer Budd Root brought a lush, visceral world to life across eight issues. Teaming with Frank Cho and Elf on art and writing duties, the series followed a strong, primal heroine navigating a landscape of dinosaurs and danger. Its raw, detailed style and focus on a female lead in a savage setting made it a distinctive cult favorite of the 1990s indie comics scene.
