Cartoon Parade
Marvel · 1961–1969 · 19 issues
About the series
From 1961 to 1969, Marvel’s Cartoon Parade offered a lively 19-issue showcase of gag cartoons and humorous illustrations, largely defined by the singular, grotesque-funny style of Basil Wolverton, who served as both its most frequent writer and artist. A lighthearted departure from the publisher’s growing superhero line, this series collected Wolverton’s delightfully oddball single-panel cartoons and short strips, mining laughs from bizarre characters and absurd situations. It remains a charming snapshot of Marvel’s early-’60s willingness to experiment with humor, anchored by one of comics’ most distinctive and beloved cartoonists.
