About the series
Julie Doucet, best known for her raw, autobiographical comics, turned her lens to the everyday surreal in Carpet Sweeper Tales, a 2016 Drawn & Quarterly series of photographic works. Rather than drawing, Doucet used a camera to capture a series of quirky, found still lifes and street scenes, creating a silent, visual narrative that feels both intimate and absurd. This single-issue project showcases a lesser-seen side of the influential artist, expanding her practice beyond the page into the tactile world of objects and chance encounters.
