About the series
In the mid-1980s, AC Comics revived a classic golden-age hero with Captain Paragon (1983–1985), a four-issue series that blended retro adventure with independent-publishing energy. Writers Dan St. John, Greg Guler, and Mark Heike, who also contributed art alongside Guler, pitted the star-spangled Captain Paragon and his allies—including Proxima, Stardust, and the enigmatic Black Shroud—against threats like the villainous Mara and the scheming Dr. Richard Latimer. A modest but fondly remembered entry in the early direct-market boom, it showcased AC’s commitment to resurrecting vintage characters with a modern indie flair.
