About the series
A short-lived but influential Italian horror-comedy series from Primo Carnera Editore, Cannibale (1977–1979) was the brainchild of writer-artist Stefano Tamburini, who helmed all six of its issues. Known for its grotesque, punk-inflected humor and transgressive satire, the series pushed the boundaries of Italian comics in the late 1970s, blending cannibalistic themes with a raw, underground aesthetic. Though brief, it became a cult touchstone for its anarchic energy and its role in launching the careers of several key figures in the Italian alternative comics scene.
