In the late 1990s, Dave McKean wrote and painted this five-issue German-published series for Carlsen Comics, a dense, surreal exploration of art, creativity, and the lives of its intertwined characters. Blending McKean's signature mixed-media artwork with a sprawling, novelistic narrative, Cages stands as a landmark work of visual storytelling, showcasing the artist's singular vision outside his more famous collaborations.
