Claire Bretécher’s Bretecher (1979–1985) collects the celebrated French cartoonist’s sharp, satirical newspaper strips in Danish translation, published by Interpresse across four issues. Originally appearing in outlets like Le Nouvel Observateur, these comics dissect the pretensions of the intellectual and middle classes with a famously dry, observational wit. Co-translated by Per Vadmand, the series brought Bretécher’s incisive, minimalist linework and unflinching social commentary to a Nordic audience. It remains a key document of how one of Europe’s most influential female cartoonists skewered the follies of her era.
