About the series
In the mid-2000s, Viz Media collected the absurdist, genre-defying Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo into a compact "SJ Edition" series, reprinting the wild adventures of the afro-powered hero Bo-bobo and his bizarre allies as they battle the hair-oppressing forces of the Maruhage Empire. Running five issues from 2008 to 2010, this edition brought the manga’s signature blend of nonsensical humor, fourth-wall-breaking antics, and over-the-top battles to a new English-reading audience. Associated with creator Yoshio Sawai, the series stands as a cult classic for its unapologetic weirdness and its place in Shonen Jump’s experimental early-2000s lineup.
