Blade of the Immortal

Hiroaki Samura’s epic samurai saga, Blade of the Immortal, was published in Germany by Egmont Ehapa from 2002 to 2013, spanning 30 issues. Written and illustrated primarily by Samura, with Christine Steinle contributing to the writing, the series follows a cursed, immortal swordsman and his quest for redemption in feudal Japan. Its gritty, visceral artwork and morally complex storytelling helped define the modern chanbara genre in manga, making it a landmark work for mature readers in the West.
