About the series
In 1988, writer/artist Howard Chaykin brought his signature, hard-edged style to DC’s Blackhawk for a three-issue miniseries. This revisionist take reimagined the classic World War II aerial squadron as a cynical, morally complex team operating in a pulp-tinged, politically charged world. Chaykin’s bold, gritty artwork and dense storytelling made this a distinctive, influential redefinition of a Golden Age property.
