Based on the cult classic film, this four-issue IDW miniseries from 2013–2014 follows the titular 1970s blaxploitation hero and his crew as they take on new, absurdly over-the-top threats. Written by Brian Ash, with art by a rotating team including Marcelo Ferreira, Jun Lofamia, and Ron Wimberly, the comic captures the same satirical, action-packed spirit as the movie. It’s a fun, self-contained expansion of the Black Dynamite universe for fans who wanted more of the character’s signature blend of kung fu, pimp slaps, and hilarious anachronisms.
