About the series
In the early 1990s, Carlsen published a Danish-language edition of the beloved Franco-Belgian series Blåfrakkerne (The Bluecoats), focusing on the misadventures of the bickering Union soldiers Blutch and Chester during the American Civil War. Over four issues, writer Per Vadmand adapted the work of series co-creator Raoul Cauvin, with Willy Lambil’s signature expressive art bringing the comic relief and historical slapstick to life. This short run brought a taste of a classic European war-comedy to Danish readers.
