About the series
Based on the LEGO toy line, this 2004 DC comic series launched the epic saga of the Toa, elemental heroes on the tropical island of Mata Nui. Written primarily by Greg Farshtey with art by Carlos D'Anda, it established the lore of the Great Spirit, the Makuta, and the biomechanical warriors' quest for the powerful Kanohi masks. Though its single issue run was brief, this comic served as the foundational text for the sprawling Bionicle mythos that would expand across multiple media.
