Bijou Funnies

A landmark of the 1960s underground comix movement, Bijou Funnies debuted in 1968 from The Bijou Publishing Empire, a collective spearheaded by the singularly influential Jay Lynch. Lynch both wrote and drew for the series, which served as a flagship anthology for the raw, satirical, and countercultural sensibility of the era. Though only a single issue was published, its impact on the medium's evolution toward creator-owned, boundary-pushing work is widely recognized.
