About the series
In 2012–2013, DC Comics revisited the world of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal Watchmen with the Before Watchmen initiative, and this four-issue miniseries focuses on the brutal vigilante Rorschach. Written by Brian Azzarello with art by Lee Bermejo, it peels back the mask of Walter Kovacs to explore the dark, formative events that hardened him into the uncompromising hunter of criminals. Azzarello and Bermejo’s grim, psychological take deepens the character’s origins without softening his violent edge, offering a tense, standalone prequel that expands the Watchmen mythos.
